ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s military has participated in the Platinum jubilee celebrations of Queen Elizabeth II, at the invitation of British government, the island’s High Commission in London said.
“In 2022, the Queen Elizabeth II became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after 70 years of service,” the statement aid.
“The pageant was organised as a part of a series of celebrations that took place from 02 – 05 June in honour of the Queen.”
Sri Lanka’s military was set up by the British when the people’s of the country was part of the British Empire.
Sri Lanka’s military has also fought in World Wars as part of the British Empire.
Following the pageant the Sri Lanka military contingent visited the Sri Lanka High Commission and met High Commissioner Saroja Sirisena.
