ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in his capacity as Finance Minister will present a supplementary estimate of 695 billion rupees to parliament next Wednesday (08), preceded by a special statement on Tuesday (07) on the state of the economy.
Main opposition Samagi Jana Balavegaya (SJB) MP Mano Ganesan told reporters after a party leaders’ meeting held in parliament on Thursday (02) that approval will be sought for essential expenditures incurred outside the budget so far.
“The Prime Minister will make a special statement.
“A supplementary estimate will be presented for such expenditure going forward, which the Prime Minister will do in his capacity as Finance Minister,” said Ganesan.
A two-day debate will also be held following the presentation, he said. (Colombo/Jun02/2022)
