ECONOMYNEXT – Major General Vikum Liyanage is to be appointed as the new Army Commander of Sri Lanka on June 01 after General Shavendra Silva relinquishes his post, Army media said.
On May 31, Shavendra Silva will relinquish his post as the Commander of the Army and will take over as the Cheif of Defence Staff in the Sri Lanka Army.
Major General Vikum Liyanage currently serves as the Chief of Staff of Sri Lanka’s Army.
